In September 2019 I was unemployed, living with my parents and anxiety was getting the better of me. So, I went away. I spent five months stepping outside my comfort zone and being kind to my brain. And then the world completely shat itself. This is 157 days Before Covid.
21 BC, Singapore - I paid 30 bucks for a Singapore Sling at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I then nursed a Stella for two hours.
55 BC, Cliffs of Moher - It was supposed to be raining on this day, so I was quite chuffed with blobs of sea foam that look like snow.
113 BC, Washington D.C - Most things worth seeing in D.C are free, which is ideal for someone who stupidly splashed out on a flashy Air Bnb. This is the Library of Congress.
8 BC, Hue - Is it a little bit wanky? Yes. Do I care? Only a little bit.
117 BC, New York - The High Line is an old train track that’s been turned into a walkway. You’d probably have it all to yourself right about now.
86 BC, Wadi Rum - I had to wake up at 5am about three times on my trip. This was the only time it was worth it.
48 BC, London - Just before Christmas, we went to Merry Yeezus; an orchestra belting out Kanye classics. A violin has never been so hardcore.
41 BC, Berlin - Earlier in the day, I ate a pretzel on top of the place Hitler died (which is now a carpark).
17 BC, Hanoi - The scroll this man painted for me is just about the only gift I brought home after 157 days. Mum pretended she didn’t mind.
34 BC, London - Street art makes you look really cultured, so here’s the Leake Street tunnel.
